Remember with a degree apprenticeship you won’t get the nice long holidays you’re used to currently!

Hey there!

Good question and it really depends on the kind of experience you're looking for. If you want the full university life of meeting loads of people, living in halls, joining societies, and having a more flexible student routine, then going down the traditional Uni route might suit you better.

If you're happy to work while studying, earn a salary, and get real experience in your field, then a degree apprenticeship can be a great option too. Both are valid paths—it just depends on what works best for you.

At LSBU, both routes are well supported. For apprenticeships, you’ll usually need a Level 3 qualification (like A-levels or a BTEC), plus English and Maths GCSEs at grade 4/C or above. Entry requirements can vary a bit depending on the course and employer. The Uni works closely with NHS trusts and industry partners, so the placements are legit and career-focused.

You can check out LSBU’s apprenticeship options here: https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/apprenticeships

If you want to chat to current students about their experiences—whether they did an apprenticeship or the traditional route—Unibuddy is a great place to do that.

Also, LSBU’s next Open Day is coming up soon—Saturday 5th July 2025. It’s a great chance to visit the campus, speak to lecturers and students, and explore both options in person.

I hope this helps you decide your next steps!
