Hey
@cheesecakeloun,
First off, I'm incredibly sorry to hear about your missed 30-marker - unfortunately, these things do sometimes happen in exams.
Grade boundaries frequently change year-on-year, so it can be difficult to say for definite whether or not losing thirty marks will instantly move you down to a B. However, the grade boundaries for A-Level Media Studies (EDQUAS) in 2024 were as follows:
A*: 233/300
A: 206/300
B: 171/300
Specific component boundaries, as well as more information about specific weightings, for the subject can also be found
here. Paper 2 is worth 90 marks, so your maximum mark for that paper has been reduced to a 60.
Using the grade boundaries given by Eduqas in 2024, which are subject and likely to change: theoretically, provided you performed very strongly elsewhere on Paper 2 and had a very good mark on Paper 1/Coursework, it should still be possible to achieve an A. Here's an examplar set of results for an A in 2024, taking into consideration a minimum loss of 30 marks on Paper 2:
Paper 1: 76/90 (weighted at 1.1667) = 88.6692
Paper 2: 51/90 (weighted at 1.1667) = 59.5017
Coursework: 50/60 (weighted at 1.5) = 75
88.6692 + 59.5017 + 75
= 223.1707 (Grade A)Hope this was helpful and wishing you all the best,
Eve
