Aberdeen vs Dundee vs City vs Imperial- Energy Finance

Hello,

I’ve received offers for the following master’s programs and need help choosing the best one. I currently have 5 years work experience in Oil and Gas (mostly supply chain management) and would like to transition into the finance side of the industry (hopefully oil & gas trading)/investment banking.

1. MSc Energy Finance & Economics- University of Aberdeen
2. MSc International Energy Studies: Energy Finance- University of Dundee
3. MSc Project Management, Risk & Finance- City, University of London
4. MSc Responsible Mining and Metals Finance (Formerly Metals and Energy Finance)- Imperial College London

Which university would give me the best opportunities with strong job prospects and industry ties. I was leaning towards Imperial but the course change has put me off a bit (even though much of the course content remained the same).

Thanks!

Hey, hope you're doing well
From everything I’ve seen Energy, Economics and Finance is well respected by oil companies, especially for corporate finance and commercial roles, since Aberdeen is pretty much the oil capital of Europe
Of course, if someone’s aiming more for trading, investment banking or global energy finance, places like Imperial or City (Bayes) might give you a bit more reach because of their brand and networks in finance. But for me, since I’m leaning more towards corporate finance within oil and gas, Aberdeen made the most sense
Wishing you all the best as well
