Should I reject Economics and Finance bsc at UEA to apply to Uni of Surrey Eco and Fi

Hi, I urgently need your opinion on this matter. So I have an offer for Economics andFinance bsc at UEA (Unconditional). I can apply to uni of sussex or uni of surrey but I would have to reject UEA first. Its a year 2 offer btw. What do you guys think? Is it worth the risk? I would really love to hear your thoughts on this. I have 2.5 hours to decide. Give me you're honest thoughts.
Thanks

Hi @ahmedrizwan11

Thanks for reaching out, I can completely understand how tough and time-sensitive this decision is. First, congratulations on securing an unconditional offer for year 2 entry at UEA, that’s a fantastic achievement!

UEA has a strong reputation in both economics and finance, with excellent teaching, supportive staff, and great opportunities for placements and career development. Plus, our campus community is both welcoming and vibrant, with lots of opportunities to socialise and meet new people.

That said, it really comes down to what’s important to you. If you’re seriously considering Sussex or Surrey, try making a list of what appeals to you. Whether it’s the location, a specific module, or career links, keep in mind your unconditional offer and way up the alternatives.

I would contact each university and have a quick chat with them to see if they have any advice - here is ours [email protected] or call +44 (0)1603 591515.

We’d absolutely love to welcome you to UEA, but whatever you choose, make sure it aligns with your goals. Also check out the accommodation and prices, especially if you are planning on receiving support.

Let’s us know what you decide, wishing you the best of luck.
Any other questions just ask!

Hi thank you for the response. What appeals to me about Sussex is the location, as it’s in Brighton which is a relatively big city. Its proximity to London and its qs ranking (272nd or something like that whereas uea is at 381, dropped from 331). What I like about UEA is the societies , the filmmaking society to be more specific. Uni of Sussex has one too but I believe it is new. I think uni of Sussex is more of a finance focused uni too

Hi @ahmedrizwan11

I absolutely understand your dilemma, I was in the exact same position 3 years ago. I had firmed the University of Sussex as my top choice, however on results day I rejected my acceptance and decided to go through Clearing. I found UEA and absolutely loved it. The campus is very similar to Sussex, the city is also just as vibrant and colourful. The night life did appeal to me more at Brighton but the distance from home not so much, so I would consider factors that are more important to you.

While I have been able to sit in Economics, Finance, business, and marketing lectures I understand that rankings are important. UEA is equipped with great facilities and brilliant academic staff who posses both the knowledge and experience to encourage you to succeed.

I would suggest visiting both the universities again and do what feels right for you. I hope you find your way and my advice was helpful!
