Urop

Hey
Are you doing UROP? Is it true that it gives you a possibility of earning some pocket money? Or is it just for very highly motivated total nerds that don't do anything during vacations?

I read something that UROP gives the int'l students a possiblity of earning some money since it does not require any work permission from overseas students. Is that true? If so, how much can you earn during the vacations?

And is it fun?

As far as I can tell it's not that good. It seems to basically be Imperial profs offering summer jobs doing their menial work. It's not really for 1st years either (we're too green in the world of physics).

Backwards, it's Pissing Off Returning Undergraduates. Be warned, as that's the general opinion I hear around campus :wink:

Its a load of rubbish if your looking for money. You have to fund yourself. some departments give grants, but its peanuts.. think aroun £150 a week plus you have fund yourself in london with rent in that time your net profet really would be pocket money, about £10/£15 a week if you starve.

on the otherhand if your willing to make the sacrifice its good for a bump into the reasearch world, but frankly there are better reasearch jobs availible out there.
