Pride Month 2025: what are your LGBTQ+ book and comic recommendations?

Hello, and happy Pride Month! :pride: This thread is for recommending any books or comics with good LGBTQ+ representation or themes.

I'll start with a few manga recommendations:

Our Dreams at Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare - focuses on a number of different LGBTQ+ characters, their daily lives, and the issues they face.

Is Love the Answer? - main character learns about the term 'asexual', and for the first time realizes she's not alone in feeling this way.

The Bride was a Boy - more of a 'comic essay', telling the author (a trans woman)'s story from childhood, through transition, and beyond.

Here's a bigger list I made earlier.

I made a list of reccommendations for a book group I'm in so I'll post it again here! I do read mostly sci-fi/fantasy/horror so most of these are in those genres.
Lesbian/sapphic representation:

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab (sapphic vampires)

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal-El Mohtar and Max Gladstone (science fiction romance)

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (lesbian necromancers in space)

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri (epic fantasy with a dash of romance)

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (epic fantasy)

The Long Way To a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers (cosy science fiction)

Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle (horror)

A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine (science fiction)

Gay men/achillean representation:

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (greek myth retelling)

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (fantasy heist, note the representation is more in the second book of the duology)

Black Leopard Red Wolf by Marlon James (epic fantasy)

Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell (space opera)

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern (fantasy)

The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez (epic fantasy)

Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat (ya fantasy)

All That's Left in the World (ya post-apocalyptic)

Aro/ace representation:

Every Heart a Doorway by Seannan McGuire (dark academia/fantasy)

Don't Let the Forest In by CG Drews (horror)

So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole (ya fantasy)

Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger (ya magical realism/mystery)

Vicious by VE Schwab (fantasy)

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko (ya fantasy)

All Systems Red by Martha Wells (science fiction. Note: the ace character in question is a robot which is controversial, but speaking as someone on the ace spectrum I think it's good representation in this particular case).

Transgender/gender nonconforming representation:

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin (science fiction)

Cemetery Boys/The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas (ya fantasy)

Hell Followed With Us/The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White (ya horror)

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi (ya fantasy)

Godly Heathens by H.E. Edgmon (urban fantasy)

Dragonfall by L.R. Lam (fantasy romance)

An Unkindness of Ghost by Rivers Solomon (science fiction)

The Black Tides of Heaven by Neon Yang (fantasy)

Bi/pan representation:

Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle (horror)

The Incandescent by Emily Tesh (dark academia/fantasy)

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (magical realism)

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett (fantasy mystery)

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (fantasy dystopia)

Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick (fantasy)

To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose (ya fantasy)

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (epic fantasy)

Witch King by Martha Wells (epic fantasy)

I absolutely loved Bury Your Gays! I wholeheartedly second that recommendation.
