Student finance transfer schemes

Hello,

If my a levels do not go as plan, I am considering going through clearing and applying for biomedical science at Sheffield Hallam university. Upon research, i’ve learnt of a transfer scheme which allows students to attempt to transfer to University of Sheffield Medicine (if you meet the criteria) after first year. I was just wondering on how the student finance would work for this, would the one year at Sheffield Hallam mean that only 4 years of the medicine degree at UoS is covered and therefore the 5th year would be out of our own pocket? Would we lose a year of maintenance loans too?

Thank you!

Hi there, we fund all years of a course + 1 additional year. So if haven't studied before and you were to start a course and then move to a different course then as long as it's only 1 year of previous study, you would be funded for the duration of your new course.

Any additional years on top of this however would only be eligible for funding if you went down the CPR route: I've enclosed below further information on this https://www.gov.uk/guidance/going-back-to-uni-or-repeating-a-year

Thanks, Jason
