I don't know what to think!

I've recently had a hearing test where to my surprise they told me I have a rather "significant hearing loss" which i really wasn't expecting. I thought maybe there might be mild hearing loss but nothing like this.

I am now needing to get hearing aids which tbh just feels so weird! I don't know what to think! I have so many feelings that I don't know exactly what i am feeling! I'm also conscious about how this may impact my law degree!

I wouldn't worry about it so much - you will have to adjust to using hearing aids, and I know this sort of thing can affect your life and even perception of self, but if you need hearing aids you need hearing aids, and you should see an improvement in your hearing. It won't affect your law degree - universities now are very accommodating to disabled students (yes, you do count as disabled under the Equality Act - so do I for being autistic!) and you'll be able to complete it/become a lawyer fine if that's what you're aiming at.

Above all however remember that your limits do not define you. Yes, you may not be able to hear very well, but you're still just as capable as you always were, and this doesn't make you any less than others or any less you. I would recommend doing some research on what being hard of hearing means for you, as well as the practicalities of everyday life. Hope this helps!!!

So the hearing aids have been ordered and you are expecting them soon?

I see. You will notice a big difference. I've never ever had full hearing, moderate hearing loss on my right side since birth - I've known no different. Improving my hearing would mean a significant operation for me - which I don't want. A hearing aid wouldn't work with the problem I have. It will take some getting used to, but please - enjoy it

I'm not entirely sure, I think it is a mixture of things. The fact I actually need hearing aids, my age (20), maybe some embarrassment or not wanting them to be noticed etc. To be honest beyond those few things I'm not entirely sure how I feel, I think I may still be in shock.
