Classics at Woodhouse

Hi, I’ve got a place at Woodhouse for English Lit, French and Psychology, but am considering changing psychology to classics. Does anyone do classics and enjoy it? I like history at gcse, and have good grades in history and English. I thought that psychology might be good to vary my options and prove that I am capable of stem to unis, but need another student’s opinion to help me decide. Many thanks.

Are you saying that you want to do STEM at Uni - but you are not taking any science or maths A levels?

No, I would like to take English Lit at uni, but I thought that Psychology might vary my options and maybe make me more appealing to universities?

Have you looked at the 'entry requirements' for the sort of degree subjects you are interested in - these will be stated clearly on each course page on Uni websites. There are no 'secrets' about this, Unis will specify A level subjects that are either essential or preferred for that course. And no Uni is going to prefer Psychology for an English degree - or be impressed by a random science-related subject.

Start by looking at any degree subjects that interest you or just sound intriguing - look wider than just 'English Lit' - and see what these degree subjects involve, and the A level subjects required. Be aware that many social science / humanities subjects do not have any required subjects, and Unis will just give the entry requirements as 3 grades ie. in any subjects.

Why is it you think it would matter to an English lit degree programme whether or not you're good at "STEM"?
