Things I would do differently if I was in year 11/12

I’m in the middle of revising for my chemistry exam on Tuesday, and I have never been so unprepared in my life.

Reality hasn’t hit me until today that these are my actual A-level exams and I have no knowledge, you may think I’m being dramatic and that I’m getting A’s and B’s but it’s quite the opposite, I once saw a D on my chemistry report card and was so happy.

I have an offer to study at a university but I need a B in chemistry, which seems highly unlikely after i saw how difficult 2025 biology paper was. I have come to accept alternatives but I am coming on to tell you guys that procrastinating until the month or week before the exam will NOT work. I have procrastinated thinking I will just do what I did during GCSEs and appear with an 8-7 from just one day of revising but it is so different.

It might be difficult for me to cram 2 years worth of knowledge in 3 days but i have no doubt in my bones that if you are reading this, whether u are in year 11 or year 12 or hell even if u are in uni. STOP PROCRASTINATING. I hope that made sense because I am not going to re-read this.

honestly thank you for this! I'm y11 (currently revising for gcses) and finding them pretty manageable with a bit of cramming the night before, but by the sounds of things that's not possible for A-level at all. I wish there were more posts like this warning y11s/12s to revise 🙂 hope your exam goes alright on Tuesday

no PLEASE do not cram in any STEM a levels, i feel like you can get away with non-stem based on how well you understand the qs structures but for stem subjects, it's all about practice. Im cramming in bio knowing ive done enuff qs, just gotta top up on my content but u just cannot do it for other subjects (like chem)

Another counterexample: A-Level Computer Science

Hope everything works out for you and that your exam didn't go as bad as you expected, to people starting a levels or going into year 13 it might seem excessive and hard to gain motivation to revise months in advance but I promise making notes and resources, revisiting things, trying some questions long in advance is the best thing you can do to reduce stress in the exam period, the worst thing is trying to learn at this time instead of just refreshing what you know

i second that, spent the night be4s cramming in content for biology and psychology and while those went well, it did not go well for chem and i just know i wouldve appreciated being able to chill night b4 my exams.

Even if it's for 1hr a day per subject everyday after skl, or using ur frees/breaks instead to study- do it. You might think of it a drag but you will be so glad when night b4 all u gotta is go over some past papers or lightly skim content!

Hold yourself accountable, maybe record urself studying, build a GYG on tsr/reddit, hand your phone into ur mum, join study calls whatever, work ur hardest for the next 2/1yrs and it'll pay off

I think a thing people dont understand is if you work hard you won't feel bad at the end even if things dont go to plan you know you did everything you can
