A level subjects help

Basically, if i dont get a 6 in maths i cant do biology and chemistry at a level, but if i get close to a 6 in maths and all the required science grades, im pretty sure i can pay to resit maths? But would i be allowed to get a conditional offer on biology and chemistry from september even if i resit in November?

You would have to check with the 6th form/college.
They all have their own policies.

At GCSEs I got a 5 in maths and i was still allowed to do biology at a level, but you should always check just to make sure 🤗

Hi there,

you are usually required to get a 6 because Biology and Chemistry include a bit of math, so its to ensure you do not struggle a lot in these subjects. I have known people who simply had a bad exam, and missed the entry requirements. However, their track record of grades 6+ allowed them to still do biology, chemistry and maths. It should be noted this was easier to do when staying on in the same school, and not moving to a different sixth form.

I think it is best to communicate with your possible sixth forms and explore your options!

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)

Hi there I do bio chem and psychology. I suggest that if you do want to do chemsitry get a grade 6 or above as it is very mathsy. statistically, if you are achieving grades 6 in gcse for sciences they say you are capped at a C grade in a levle. But if you put the hard work you deffo can get an A or B. Really do think if you want to do these subjects as it is content heavy especially biology, i feel like chemistry is hard to learn but the more practise you do the better you get at it.
