GCSE Numeracy

hey guys, i’m looking to apply to university next year and was wondering for gcse requirements at england unis, do they accept gcse maths numeracy in place of gcse mathematics typically? i’m a welsh student so there’s not a lot of info out there for our qualifications. is it the same as gcse maths? i hadn’t passed mathematics but passed numeracy.

This will vary by university and by course, so there really isn't a "typically". For example, the University of Manchester say on this page:

"Applied GCSE Mathematics courses (such as WJEC Mathematics – Numeracy) at Grade C are considered to have an acceptable level of numeracy for entry to most of our courses. They’re not accepted for entry to some courses, for instance where GCSE Mathematics is a specific requirement."

What sort of degree course are you interested in? Do you have any target unis in mind?

As above, if its not explicit on the Uni website, email / phone the Uni and ask.

I think it dose count but it might depend on Uni, it should say on the course page. In England the maths GCSE (3 papers) is combined mathematics AND numeracy. So yeah should count
