University of Kent Social Work Apprenticeship

Hello,

Has anyone applied for the Social Work Apprenticeship at The University of Kent (June cohort or previously applied).

I have been invited to sit the assessment and now anxiously searching information about the interview day. I’d love to speak to anyone else in a similar position, or anyone who has previously undertaken this for some advice.

Thank you.

Hey,

I was successful and will be joining the team in September!

The application process was quite long-winded. I only had 24 hours to complete the application as I found it late, but I’d really recommend taking your time with it—many of the questions have a minimum word count, so it’s not something to rush through.

The next stage was an online written assessment, which I found pretty intense! You’re given a case study and 45 minutes to write a minimum 500-word response. Time absolutely flies, and there are no time warnings—so one moment you’re manically typing away & the next you’re being kicked out and it’s been submitted!

The final stage was a half day event which entailed an interview and group discussion. During this you are sat with all other successful candidates so it is a really great opportunity to meet others with the same passion and aspirations as you. Candidates are then taken out one by one for an interview. I was seen by a Social Work Manager and a university lecturer. Then for the group task, we were put into groups of 10 with 4 observers. We had 5 minutes to read a case study and 20 minutes to discuss it as a group.

Let me know if you have any other questions—happy to help!
