If u hate gcse bio, u r gonna hate Alevel biology even more 😭. It’s mainly memorisation ig. Since it has a lot of vocab (more than French gcse vocab which is 2000)

Start by looking at the 'entry requirements' for Psychology at a range of different Unis - they will all be slightly different. Some of the more competitive Unis will require science or science-related subjects, others will just require specific grades or UCAS points with no specific subjects. Be aware that Psych will require good Maths skills, hence most courses have a specific GCSE Maths requirement. Examples :

Bristol - A*AA including A in a science-related subject. Science-related subjects include: Biology; Chemistry; Computer Science; Further Mathematics; Geography; Mathematics; Physics; Psychology; and Statistics plus grade 6 GCSE Mathematics.

Liverpool - ABB with a B or above in A level science (Science subjects: Applied ICT, Biology or Human Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics. Electronics, Environmental Science, Further Mathematics, Geography, Geology, ICT, Life and Health Sciences, Mathematics, Psychology, Physics, Statistics) plus both GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 5

Kent - ABB (no specific subjects) plus GCSE Maths grade 4

Oxford Brookes - BBC (no specific subjects)

Hi there,

are you applying to US or UK universities - or anywhere else in the world?

I would suggest taking an A-Level in psychology. However, your choice should be guided by uni entry requirements. If you do not like GCSE Biology then you most likely will not like A-Level Biology, and this may reduce motivation and result in poor grades.

I would suggest speaking to subject heads to get an idea of what each A-Level entails and to make a more informed choice.

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)
