What A-Levels should I pick?

I would take four A-Levels, but I don’t know if I’ll get the chance as you need all 8s, only results day will tell.

But i’m a decent all-rounder. Probably around a 7 in everything and enjoy most of my subjects.

Any input on what would be the best A-levels to take in order to go and do degree level music at a russell group.

I’d like to do Music, Music Tech, and Music Performance. But i’ve been adviced against this by others here.

Anyone do any other A levels that they enjoy a lot or think might be good for someone who is music oriented, that isn’t music?

Sorry this is a very vague question but i’d appreciate any help.

Thanks a lot.

Hi there!

i hope you are doing well🙂 I am a currently 3rd year university student studying music at Southampton and these all sound like great options to study in my opinion! The most important thing I have learnt is to study what YOU want to learn as you will be focussing on these area of study for 2 years. When at sixth form I studied Music, Mathematics and psychology and had an incredible experience. It is important to see if there is any other subject that your college/sixth form offer and decide which you prefer

Hope this helps!

I was actually very interested about going to southampton. Very nice location, looks like a solid choice. Do you think I could do a music course at southampton with the 3 I already listed or do you think i’d need to change my options? Also how do you find music at southampton? roughly how many people in your year are doing it?

Music and Music Tech are fine together. You need something else not music related. Anything else that interests you I would probably choose another essay based a level such as drama or English or else something like psychology. Do not do 4 a levels unless it’s further maths. Also music a level is hard and it’s hard to achieve a high grade.
