Be confident, it’s more of a chat than an interview, they’re seeing how you will fit into the course as well as how you will interact with patients. I was told during mine that it was refreshing to have someone chatting rather than just answering questions with a few words.
Research the 6 Cs and the values of nursing/the NHS. I was asked to pick 1-2 of the 6Cs and give examples of how I’ve demonstrated these in the past.
I was also asked why I wanted to be a nurse, and why I chose adult nursing rather than children’s/mental health etc so maybe think about what type of nurse you want to be or where you see yourself working (eg A&E, women’s health, community etc)
At the end of the interview they’ll ask if you have any questions, try to have a question prepared rather than just saying no, it shows you’re interested and engaged in the conversation.
I had my interview a few months ago and had an offer through later that day. Good luck! 🤞

Hi,

I'm currently a 2nd year childrens nurse at Wrexham University, through my experiences so far I have found the course has been amazing.

Interviews can be terrifying especially if you've never done one before, be ready for situational questions like “What would you do if…” as well as "Why did you choose nursing?" --> Show passion, a personal story, or long-term commitment to back yourself up.

Some of my top tips include:

Practice out loud mock interviews help a lot.

Prepare 2–3 stories that show your teamwork, adaptability, and resilience.

Stay calm and confident, not robotic be human.

Ask insightful questions.

Dress professionally even for virtual interviews.

In terms of what universitys are looking for in future generation nurses at interview it might be worth giving a read over the following link, this goes into more depth about what universities look for, and top tips for applying to study nursing! 🙂

I hope this helps you and free to ask any more questions you may have, good luck with your interview, you've got this!
