Hi there,
I am currently a medical student at the University of Sunderland, for us they didn't mind as much about us having shadowing experience, but more so that we had public facing experience. Whether that was volunteering at a care home, or a paid job, anything that was public facing they really liked on our applications.
I would recommend either phoning or actually going to the GP surgeries, it might be easier to go and speak to someone.
