Can current medical students at UCLAN give a brief overview of what each year in medical school has been like so far. I want to hear how you feel about work load, what you love and hate about the course

Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.

The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles linked below, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". Hi @Haehyira,

Thank you for your message and patience. My apologies for the delayed response. Unfortunately, our MBBS student ambassador has graduated but I can give you some more information. I would recommend attending our Open Day in August 17 if you are able to. It's a great way to speak to current students, lecturers and ask any questions you may have. Our August Open Day is your last chance to speak to our tutors before the October UCAS deadline for MBBS. You can find out more info about the open day and book your place here: Undergraduate Open Day at Preston Campus - Aug 2025

I have found a little snippet from a previous thread that one of our MBBS students answered on here: "When it comes to the academic side of studying medicine at UCLan, it can be tough but it is definitely worth it in the end! Medicine at UCLan is currently split into 2 phases - Phase 1 (years 1 and 2) which is your pre-clinical phase and Phase 2 (years 3,4 and 5) which is your clinical phase.
In preclinical a lot of your week is spent learning the theory side of medicine, learning examination skills and attending workshops. You also get early patient contact right from Year 1 where you will have a couple of weeks of placement."

There is also more information on the modules and structure here: Medicine & Surgery Degree, MBBS at UCLan

Do let us know if you have nay further questions 🙂
Best wishes, ^Zac
