AH history

Looking for advice on how hard the AH history course is as I may take it - I’m doing it during June but might drop it in August. How different is it from higher and how much more do you have to memorise? I found the jump from N5 to H very big and I’m wondering if H to AH is the same? I got a high A1 in my higher prelim (95%) and am predicted an A in the exam but I’ve heard that the essays at AH are very different and are not as structured. What are the essays like and are they in anyway similar to higher with evaluations and counter arguments etc…. What is the dissertation like and does it require lots of work? My school are studying Germany from democracy to dictatorship but any kind of advice would be appreciated even if that is not what you studied.
