I've been offered a provisional place at University College (Castle), and I’ve just seen the accommodation request form.
When choosing room preferences, there are options like "shared," "single," etc. I’d really like to be placed in the Castle itself — not in Owengate or other accommodation.
From what I’ve heard, first years are usually only placed in the Castle if they’re in a shared (twin) room. I’m more than happy to share, but I really don’t want to end up in a shared room outside the Castle. If I’m not in the Castle, I’d definitely prefer a single room instead.
Does anyone have any advice on what to put on the form to maximise my chances of being placed in the Castle and not sharing elsewhere?
I’m afraid it’s really luck of the draw with accommodation forms, it’s up to you whether you want to risk it and rank a shared room first. The JCR website does state that a lot of castle rooms are kept for returners, so it could be something you aim for in your second year instead?

Hiya,
Castle accommodation is quite popular, thus, making it harder for students to get allocated to. Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to maximise your chances. I'd take a look at the options for accommodation once again and maybe do a pros/cons list, it'll probably help with deciding on taking the risk or not 🙂
