Cambridge History and Politics Application

hi, i'm a y12 student who wants to apply to cambridge for history and politics and want some advice on if it's realistic considering my GCSEs
i got 99888888876 8 beng english lang. which i RESAT ! and 7 being maths (6 in drama)
i have heard about contextualising offers in terms of ur school background and performance, but i fear this would work against my favour - as i am at an extremely well performing and selective all boys grammar school (i'm talking 8-10 grade 9s on average)
furthermore, right now i am being predicted A*A*AA , so i would just like some general advice on academics and my REALISTIC chances
thank you

You will be completely fine for HisPol with these grades- you essentially got 9A*, 1A and 1B. Even at a good school, these are interview-worthy grades and once you're past that stage, a super-high interview score will be of far more importance than the difference between an 8 or a 9. If you want higher predicted grades for your UCAS, ask your school if you can evidence your higher potential over the summer with coursework or something else- but really with above-minimum predicted grades you'll barely be distinguishable from an applicant with 3A*... (also if you're really worried, ask your school if they wouldn't mind telling you what quartile your GCSE grades were in relative to your cohort last year).
