Can I do a pff2 form instead

Hi so I am now moving on to third year. So I just did my student finance tuition fees. I wanted to apply for maximum maintenance loan but in the application I thought my mother needs an account and she doesn’t have one. So I said no but I do need a maximum maintenance loan. Can I just complete a pff2 form instead because it makes it easier? I did this last year and it worked smoothly

Im just worried because I said no like last year. If I do a pff2 form will student finance realise I do want the maximum maintenance loan?

Hi there, depending on the status of your application you may be able to update this via your online account.
I have provided a guide (link) for to show how to change this via the online account:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/student-finance-england-how-to-guide
It is option 2 under the contents section for 'Applies to England'. This will show you how to make the required change.
Once submitted the online request is currently taking an estimated 12 working days for review
If you are unable to make the change online, you would need to contact us either over the phone or via live chat to request the required forms to make this change. To access our live chat service from your online account, select 'undergraduate' and then ‘contact us’. From here you will be able to use our live chat service when it is available. Our opening hours are stated on our ‘contact us’ page. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi so I have just called them and the caller said yes you can upload a pff2 form and it will take 12 days for a response. So I’m guessing this will let the system know im asking for more maintenance loan?

Thank you. Also in the pff2 form it says in 2.6 if you received any income during the tax year. But the question before says if you put in national insurance than skip to section 5 without answering it? I’m confused

Hi there, the parent would still indicate any income in 2.6 so they'd tick yes or no for us to then check this with HMRC. Thanks, Jason

My parents and I are still quite confused. Because for the people who don’t have national insurance it says answer that question for 2.6. But if you do have national insurance then it says skip to section 5?

Hi there, they need to complete the form ticking 'yes or no' to the relevant sections. If a particular section isn't relevant then they put no and move to the next step it asks them. Thanks, Jason

Screenshot 2025-06-18 122151.png Hi so this was the question. Essentially for 2.5 it is no so we don't need to answer 2.6 since it's for parents who don't have national insurance? Thank you.
