wrexham uni nursing - timetable / term dates

Hi, I was just wondering how the time table works for the nursing courses and if you actually get an adequate amount of time off as nursing courses can be very full on, thank you!

Hi Sianellah!

I'm currently a 2nd year childrens nurse at Wrexham University, through my experiences so far I have found the course has been amazing.

The timetable here is dependent on whether or not you are on placement or not!

The theory timetable is rather straight forward you are usually in uni for 2 days, online for 1 and have self-directed/ directed study for the other 2! For example I'm in uni in person on Tuesday and Thursdays and online on Wednesdays, which allows me plenty of time to do my studying for assignments and exams etc.

With placement things become more complicated, but you'll find this everywhere! This is because depending on your placement area you may be on 12 hour shifts, monday to friday 9-5 shifts or even a different combination altogether! Once again an example of my shifts include working on an MIU on 12 hour shifts for 3 days a week and then School Nursing which were 9-5 monday to friday 🙂

In terms of time-off, we get 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 6 weeks off over summer! You will find that the time you go off for the summer is a lot later than other courses, we tend to go off around the first week of August and then get the 6 weeks from there!

I hope this helps you and free to ask any more questions you may have, good luck, you've got this!

Feel free to message me on the Wrexham Uni Buddy if you have any questions! 🙂
