:wavey:Welcome to GYG! Best of luck with your goals :yeah:
I also watch a lot of house md and love painting. What are your favourite things to paint? What kind of paints do you use? I like painting with watercolours and mostly paint nature-y stuff like birds.
Hope all your exams went really well! You did human bio and are now moving to straight bio, thats interesting. Does the bio course have more animal and plant focused stuff in with the human content for AH bio?
I study a levels and take maths and biology btw 🙂
Wishing you the best of luck with your medicine ambitions!

Thank you! I can literally only paint skies or like scenery/nature and I loveee watercolour. I don't paint as often now, but I might start again in the summer.
My exams went well (i hope) appreciate you asking 🙂 I'm kinda dreading AH bio just because I much prefer the human stuff. The bio course definitely has more animal and plant focused stuff, so I will need to catch up on the 2 bio units in the summer.
Nice to know! I have seen your gyg, will go look at it again though. Nice to see we have some common ground )))) And thanks for the wishes 🙂

Landscapes are lovely to paint 🙂 I definitely need to do more painting as well tbf
It’s quite cool that human bio is offered as a course. With GCSEs/a levels human bio is very very rare (never come across anyone who does it but it’s apparently a thing!).
Good luck with everything you want to get done over the summer!

Hi. Hope S6 goes well. Those are great grades. How does entry for Advanced Highers work as you have started the course but haven't received your higher results?
Hope you get into Medicine.
Also congrats on being a study forum helper on your first post somehow.

I should probably include a tag in my original post on how the scottish system works because it is very confusing. but basically after you finish exams in may, you come back in june to start your new courses (this just means you get a taster of them) so you can decide whether you like those subjects and want to continue forward with them. when you get your results back for highers, if you failed or barely passed them, you'd be recommended to drop any advanced highers you took and resit the higher qualification. so basically, you pick based on your prelim preds and do those subjects for a couple weeks. it's complicated i know haha.
Appreciate the well wishes ))) And funnily enough, I've been a study forum helper quite a while, I just never really posted on GYG - if you head over to the Scottish Quals you'll see me there quite a bit because that's probably where i work best

Human Bio is actually offered in other courses like IGCSE and Australian ATAR (according to my friends) I do think it's very worth offering tbh

Yes it seems like a sensible subject to offer, just very uncommon for GCSEs and a levels. I checked and theres nowhere to study it near where i live for more than 75 miles!

I've barely ever (if ever) gone to the Scottish Qualifications part of the site as I'm not knowledgeable about Scottish Qualifications and I've never needed to use it.

So I've been out of school for a while, and missed a decent amount for some of my subjects. So here's what I need to do today:

biology homework - classification and model organisms (the grind never stops 😃)

catch up on maths - partial fractions and algebraic long division

write the video script for head girl

timed DM + QR practice

finish Do No Harm (i'm kind of in a reading slump ☹️)

Here's what I did today:

biology homework - classification and model organisms (the grind never stops 😃)

catch up on maths - partial fractions and algebraic long division

timed DM practice

I'm fine with what I did today just because I was very busy - grocery run, shower, cook, laundry, fold clothes etc

Yes I'm running for head girl in my school - I do hope I'd get it but I'll be fine with depute head as well. I have my interview in a couple of weeks, also I have a reflective essay due in a couple of weeks for an out-of-school course but not to do right now.
Also the UCAT is killing me right now, I started revising because I'm going to sit it on one of the earlier test dates so I don't need to spend time in school worrying about it and get the best AH preds possible 🙂
That's all for today, I'll update later on whether I did do any of these things. I'm going out with friends tomorrow so I do need to complete all of this today

I do! It's mainly because I took 2 weeks off for out-of-school things and didn't catch up on the weekend, so all that work is now piling up 😯

Thank you for the wishes ))) I'm planning on booking the UCAT around a couple days after results day so like 8th/9th August - and then I have a good few days before we're back to school to chill haha

I think that's a solid time to do it. Best of luck xx When do you have a break for the summer? (Seeing what you said I assume your holidays are different to England?)

Hello! I know I've seen you around on the Scottish Qualifications forum before. Good to see you in the GYG space too!

I'm also taking AH Maths and AH Biology. Like you, I did Human Biology at Higher because I'm not a big fan of the plant stuff. Though it seems like the second unit of AH Biology is more focused on evolution and reproduction in animals than plants so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. I'm looking forward to learning about parasitism, for sure. Do you have any ideas of what sort of thing you want to do for your project? My teachers ideally want me to have a project topic chosen before the summer.

Good luck on studying for the UCAT and actually sitting it! I'm not an aspiring med student so I'm not sure what sort of things are in it but I can imagine it being difficult if you have to do well to get into medicine. Good luck on your Head Girl interview too! I'm hoping to put myself forward for one of the Head Student (they don't specify gender in my school) positions as well when the time comes - though, like you, I'd take a Depute Head Student position too. Maybe we can compare notes? Haha.

Hey! Thanks for popping by, your GYG actually inspired me to create one (I've been following along quietly haha) How are you finding maths and biology? It's cool we have 2 similar subjects lol. Totally get you on the plant stuff, it bores me to no end. I'm actually looking forward to the viruses bit, it seems pretty cool and human bio-ish. And I have 0 clue on what my project could be on, partly because our school doesn't seem to be in any rush for anyone to decide. What are you thinking for yours? In class, we haven't properly started the course; we're just briefing over the first couple topics in some units (we haven't been given jotters or booklets)
Thanks for the UCAT wishes, I will most definitely need them ☹️ Really appreciate the interview wishes too, I do have many things I want to change in our school, e.g. set up a prizegiving ceremony like yours  Our school doesn't really specify gender either (like there can be two head girls, or two head boys, or one either or). Good luck on your Head Student position - I really hope you get it! Let's compare notes if you want to, although I don't really have any (yet).
