Its an A level - therefore there will be final year exams.
Can you take it in one year - unlikely, but ask the school/college offering it.

For my school we did single award so each year you do 2 pieces of coursework and an exam at the end of the year. One AS coursework is about quality care and the other is about promoting communication (and you pick the setting e.g nursing home). For A2 it's about body systems so you can pick an illness and research it and the other is about the family and meeting the needs of someone with a physical disability or illness. Both exams are at the end of the year and we had just over a month after finishing the coursework to focus on exams. For the A2 exam you get a service user group and statements (around March time) that basically tell u the questions.
