Switching to dentistry from creative degree - should I self-study A-levels or apply f

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in my second year of a creative degree (fashion promotion), but recently I've been seriously considering switching to study dentistry.
I did A-levels in Chemistry, Maths and Art, but my grades in Chemistry and Maths weren't good. Now I'm thinking about either retaking A-levels Chemistry and taking Biology from scratch, or trying to apply dentistry foundation year -- but I'm really not sure which route makes more sense.

Does anyone know which foundation year courses are more suitable for mature applicants or career changers like me?
Or is it more realistic to self-study and retake A-levels on my own?

Here are some other things I''m struggling with:
1,I'll be around 28 by the time I finish dentistry -- is that too late? Will age affect job prospects?
2,How does funding / student finance work if I've already started a degree?
3,I'm afraid if I leave my current degree and fail the switch, I'm might not be able to go back.

I'd really love to hear from anyone who's gone through a similar change, or just understands the system better.
What would you do in my position? Foundation or A-levels?
