Uni of Leicester accepting my bad grades?

I have had my a level left and I have one left which is maths and despite my preperation I think I have panicked and one terribly my other 2 a level i have done quite well in as I think i will get an A or B in both of them however for maths i think i will get D or E. My grade requirements for leicester is BBC for accounting and finance and i have been panicking as its my firm choice and i really want to get in however i dont know whether they will accept me or not through clearing or at all. What i think i will get is ABD and worst case scenario BCE is there any way i would get in with either of these grades and if so would it be clearing or would they justa accept me and are leicester lenient or is there no chance.

Hi there,

I can't really comment on how lenient Leicester is on results day with grades for entry, but what I can say is try not to panic - even though it's definitely easier said than done! There is nothing you can do or find out now until results day, as I think whether they would still offer you the place will be dependent on how many other applicants meet their offers.

Usually, universities will tend to give more people offers than the course capacity. This is because they know a lot of people will put them as insurance and go to their firm, some may not firm or insure that uni at all, and others will firm and then miss their offer.

It would completely depend on how many people get the grades to meet their offer for the specific course - the admissions team would usually then re-assess and decide whether or not to take those who only missed out by a small amount.

This would all be done between the time the universities receive everyone's grades and then results day, but they would not be able to tell you anything until results day.

Obviously I am not telling you that you would definitely get accepted with lower than entry, but usually if there are still places left then they will be lenient if you are only a grade lower - if not, they may offer an alternate course such as a foundation degree in the same course you have applied for (if they offer them).

I am sorry to hear about the worries you are having. Firstly, remain calm and don't get ahead of the game. You haven't had your final exam and it is not results day yet so there is no way of knowing just what the outcome will be. I cannot confirm nor deny whether or not you would get a place on your chosen course at Leicester, I do not have all the necessary information and no one yet knows how in demand the course will be this year and so cannot say with 100% certainty how popular this course may be and how many people will get in during the main cycle.

It is always worth calling us in Clearing, and we would love to be able to help you. It is worth considering how last year's GCSE Maths was important for Accounting and Finance, as was the A Level.
