What is the meaning of 'do not allow' on OCR markschemes?

Does this mean that the entire answer is ignored and marked as wrong, or just the single aspect that contains the error. ie for a 1 mark question, if you had two points, one being correct and the other being a 'do not allow' point, would the entire answer be wrong, or would you still get the mark for the correct aspect. This is for GCSE OCR Gateway A Chemistry btw

Depends if the points are linked, but in general, it's 1 mark

I'm afraid it scores 0. You haven't said 'white precipitate' for the result (which is 1 mark) and you have essentially said 'add (dilute) hydrochloric acid' which negatives the correct answer of 'silver nitrate' (1-1=0)
