future career advice!

hi! i’m feeling very confused about where and what i should do with my career (and my life lol) so if anyone could give me some advice i’d REALLY appreciate it.

I did my GCSE’s and i passed the majority of them gaining 5’s 4’s and and 2 3’s (geog and drama) so i resat 5 of them at my college gaining 5’s 6’s and a 7. im now studying BTEC applied science, english language and sociology a level.

i have wanted to go into MEDICINE since i was 10! not cliche but factual as there’s videos of me saying this.

i found out later that doing med as a gcse resit is very difficult compared to an a level resit and i’m basically shooting myself in the foot. therefore i’ve looked into SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY and it’s a subject i have a good interest in. this led me to learn of the degree entry route into med and if i wasn’t interested in it anymore in 4 years id be happy with myself with that as my job.

my family/friends have advised me to give up on my dream of med or any kind of healthcare degree and go for something like TEACHING or LAW. both are degrees which are great but not something i’d be as interested in compared to S&LP.

they think i should do this because they can see me going into it and has decent pay but i want to do something where i am happy even if the pay isnt the best at first.

would you advise me to go into S&LP and then med if i still had an interest after seeing my grades?
OR
to go for teaching/law/something else and hang up the dream and not let my grades be a barrier?

i am also open to advice towards degree apprenticeships!!

hi, here's my advice. i'm not about to tell you "you must do this" or "you must do that" cuz it's not up to me to decide and ultimately, only you get to make the final decision. i am just here to give my advice. i would advise you to go into speech and language pathology, since you seem to have more of an interest in that than anything else. in my personal opinion, i think that it would be better if you chose this route since it's better to end up with a job that you love, even if it doesn't pay well, then to be stuck in a job you hate. this is just my opinion. if you end up choosing to go into teaching or law, then that's fine too, but you seem to be more interested in speech and language pathology

also if you choose to do an apprenticeship in something to do with the job you want before getting the job you want, then this may also help
