Likelihood of getting into Cambridge Mphil with supervisor support

Hello! I'm a bit new here but I could use some advice. I did my bachelors from University of Toronto two years ago with an 83% average (Checked the site and it says I need a 2:1 to apply and from the international reqs page it seems like I have a first according to Cambridge). I have three separate relevant research experience to the programme I'm applying to: MPhil in Medical Science Psychiatry. I've also met with supervisors who have urged me to apply and am working on a proposal with them at the moment. However, my main issue is that I have a couple of Cs in my second year and I'm afraid that would ruin my chances for getting in. I'm currently doing an Msc at KCL with a first class so far but I'm just looking for any insights you might have about my chances. Has anyone with a C ever gotten in?

Cambridge doesn't require perfect grades, it requires you to be bright enough overall and ready enough now, to start the course. A couple of Cs in the second year aren't going to be a consideration at all, especially with a strong degree from KCL and an interesting research proposal.

Hey thanks for taking the time to respond! I hope it works out well. Would you have a suggestion for a college as well?

It really doesn't matter which College you go to. There's no academic difference, and overall, there's not much financial difference. It's more about the things that matter to you - do you want to avoid tourists or can you tolerate them, do you want to row and be near the river, or do you not get up before 0845 so need to be near the Department, what's your favorite colour - do you want stash and a scarf that's poop brown, or gopping purple, or barbie pink...or not!

Don't pick two old central Colleges, because of you aren't selected early you won't get Trinity, Kings or Johns at all, and you'll likely not get any other old central when you've been through that process. So if you want to control your destiny, read around the Selwyn, Fitz, Darwin, Homerton, types which are less popular but fantastic, and save yourself being pooled to the 'take alls' (which are still great places, but perhaps the community takes a while to gel because most people were pooled there)
