UAL Accommodation

Hi, I am moving into the student halls in September and I am unsure what I really need to bring. Does anyone know of things that I should definitely bring and things that I could leave behind?

Hi @RonnieJ9925,

When I was moving into student halls, I found YouTube videos about the topic a useful resource in figuring out what I did and did not need.

I will say it's a very personal thing, and you know yourself and your needs best.
But my advice on things from my experience are:

Bring at least 2 sets of Bedding

Hangers

Something sentimental and comforting

Decor that shows your interests and personality

I found storage boxes and drawer organisers sooo useful, but maybe wait till your stuff is moved in to truly know how many and what size.

Clothes, shoes, bags, etc. - now I definitely overpacked and struggled to find the space to fit everything. It could be a good idea to figure out what the staples in your wardrobe are, and categorise items per season. If you live not too far, you could always rotate per season or pick up bits here and there from home.

Kitchen supplies, cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, pots and pans - This was an area where I overbought. You only need two of everything, and at most a set of four. You can always buy extra if you need, but you will usually only have one or two cupboards for your kitchen stuff.

Those are the main things that spring to mind right now, but let me know if you have any specific questions about this!!
