Should I apply to Kcl??

Hi, I’m currently a Year 12 student trying to decide which unis to pick.
I’ve been wanting to apply for KCL political economy as one of my options but I have constantly heard negative things about the admin there and especially the lack of support for undergrads.

KCL would be one of my safety choices and I’m wondering if it’s better to swap it out for Bristol economics & politics instead, although I would prefer being in London.

Can anyone give me advice or personal experience on whether I should still apply for KCL or completely rule it out?

What are your predicted grades?
What are your other 4 choices?

I haven’t gotten my predicted grades back yet but guessing from exam results it would be 3 A*. I am also applying to lse, Cambridge, ucl and Edinburgh.

May I ask which course will you apply in Cambridge?

Just be aware that, even if you do get A* predicted grades, applying to Oxbridge plus KCL, LSE and UCL is risky. Every year all of these reject thousands (yes, thousands) of applicants who meet or exceed their entry requirements - because they get so many applications they can be very picky about who they accept. So - worse case scenario could be that you get one offer - from Edinburgh.

My advice is always not to apply to all mega-competitive Unis - Oxbridge plus two is risky enough - and to pick at least two out-of-London Unis where you might actually get an offer. OR, you could apply for Cambridge plus two others before the October deadline, see what you responses you get, and then add more strategic choices before the January deadline if needed.
