Finance Career Advice

Can anyone help me out, been struggling for a few years as to where I'd like to take myself in life. Years of love for science unfortunately disappeared when I dropped out of uni. I wanted to work in pharmaceuticals, however got stuck in retail and have been there far too long and I'm fed up, especially with hours being cut, i can't afford it anymore.

After thinking about what I enjoy/what I'm good at, maths was always a strong point of mine, was on track for an A at a-levels but just missed out and got a B due to covid messing everything up. However I still enjoy numbers, and it got me looking into finance. I applied for a payroll apprenticeship and unfortunately heard nothing back, but have also looked into bookkeeping and other similar stuff. After 4 years of retail my confidence in talking to customers hasn't really improved and so I'm hoping for a job where I wouldn't have to be customer facing or answer phonecalls from the public.

I'm basically asking for help on if anyone knows how I can get into this area as nothing is ever available around 10 miles of where I live and I am yet to learn to drive. The few roles I have seen advertised for a trainee/part time role all require 2+ years of experience in specific finance programs, but how am I supposed to get the experience ?

Look for any accountancy apprenticeships.

One way to find them is to google something like top 200 accounting firms U.K. and make a list of firms with offices near to you.

Keep an eye on their websites for when applications open which tends to be around September. Try to apply quickly when they open.
