Uni of portsmouth rosalind franklin halls

Hi I have been offered an ensuite room in rosalind franlkin and am debating whether to accept it or not as I've seen some dogy things about it. Is it a nice accommodation? Is it noisy? How much does it cost to wash and dry clothes? Is there any parking? Or can I park my car somewhere nearby? What's the wardrobe space like? There's not many photos of the wardrobe or shower. How do you manage the wet room? Is there anything you suggest me using to prevent the shower water going everywhere?

Thank you!

Hiya, I am able to answer a few of those!

RF has been fully renovated over the past few years so the interiors are much nicer than when I was in first year. I would say it's a pretty good accommodation, lots of students and in a good area.

Noise levels: this can be quite dependent as to what block you end up on. One of the blocks is directly opposite a club, however, I would say most noise is on a Wednesday when students are outside queuing. Otherwise, it's just general traffic.

Washing/drying is done with Circuit Laundry. Normally, you pay on an app and have to put a minimum amount on there (it's about a tenner). From what I remember, it's around a fiver to wash and dry. I'd recommend only drying things like towels/jumpers, as the dryers are usually not great and you can just air dry stuff in your room.

It is unlikely you will be able to park nearby, but there is parking near Eldon Building that does not require a permit. My mates in first year had to find side roads to park their cars on so as not to pay a fine, and to avoid having to pay for a parking permit.

Wardrobe size is decent, you get quite a deep cupboard. If you check out the Unite Students RF Halls page, you'll be able to find a 360 view/walkthrough and will be able to gauge the size of the cupboard. Wet room is fine! I kept my shower mat outside the bathroom, instead of next to the shower. Unless you move around crazily, it will be okay. Obviously the bathroom gets quite damp, but not soaked. i.e. if you needed the loo, you'd get slightly wet feet. Just leave the door open/extractor on, etc.
