unable to do my chosen options

at first i chose media and digital IT. but then i was told i couldnt do both so i chose IT and textiles instead of media. It was confirmed i would do these until today. I was told that the IT teacher won’t be here much next year so we can’t have IT gcse course. they decided to do a astrology class but i’m not interested in that at all. Anyway i’m really mad that i cant do what i want to do. especially since i want a career in computing. Do gcse options have a big impact on a level options??

Hiya,

Sorry to hear about this! The short answer is no, not really. Someone I know is doing a degree in Computer Science yet didn't take it at GCSE - I don't think you need to worry too much. But, for clarity and to just make sure, you could email colleges/sixth forms asking what they require in order to take certain A-levels.

Hope this helps!
