How much does my english gcse grades matter for an oxbridge application?

if i hypothetically got a grade 8 in english literature but a grade 6 in language in my gcses, would that affect my oxbridge application? mind u these are what i predicted MYSELF for my gcse results so it can either be lower or higher. im also debating on pursuing an economics or law degree.

Would me hypothetically being predicted an A* in english literature in year 12 help sway me getting in?

Hi.
Moved to Applications, Clearing and UCAS for you. I personally think a 6 in English Language will be fine but I'll let an expert give you accurate information.

There really isnt much point in trying yourself in knots with endless 'what ifs' before you even know your GCSE results in August. In general, provided you meet their individual specific GCSE grade requirements (typically just English and/or Maths depending on degree subject) Unis are FAR more interested in your A level predicted grades. Try not to worry - you have probably done much better than you think.
