Loans/funding for pharmacy

Please could you tell me if either pharmacy or one of the undergraduate physician associate programmes comes under the student loan exceptions for allied health professions?

I would be interested in finding out what assistance is available for these courses in terms of tuition fees and maintenance. Does it depend on the specific university?

I already have a degree but I am considering a career change.

Hi Thomas,

What is the name of the university you're looking to attend and we can check this for you?

Thanks, Jason

Hello, so far I have been looking at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen for pharmacy and the undergraduate physician associate programme at Reading University. Does the availability of student loans to cover tuition fees and maintenance for exception courses depend on the specific university rather than the particular programme, or the part of the UK (Scotland, England, Wales, NI) where the institution is based?

Hi Thomas. No, we would look at the course itself being an exception rather than where you are studying. Can you please also confirm your previous study and in what field you already hold a qualification? Thanks again, David

Hi Clare, many thanks for your reply. I am unable to find the contact section for live chat when I log in. I can only see a "Letters and emails" tab.

By when would an application need to be made for courses commencing in the autumn of 2026?

Hi there. The chat option will only be shown if an adviser is available from the page mentioned previously. For the next Academic Year we cannot answer this as these applications are not live yet, they should expect to launch around Spring of 2026. Thanks, David
