is there any hope in getting an offer from Bristol?

I'm in my final few weeks of 1st year and i've sat my end of year exams but don't have my predicted grades yet as we still have 3 weeks left. However, I have received some of my exam papers back one of which is the pure maths paper where I unfortunately didn't do so great because of silly mistakes and im worried that my predicted will be a B. I wish to study mech/civil engineering at Bristol and I think my college qualifies for a contextual offer, however that requires AAB in Maths, Physics and another subject respectively. From December onwards I taught myself the entire 1st year A level Physics specification on my own and sat the 2025 AS papers in order to get a grade which my college will use to decide whether they let me swap Business for it in the 2nd year. I will definitely put this in my personal statement as I believe it shows my determination and commitment, but i'm not sure whether it'll be convincing enough if my predicted for maths remains at a B. I would appreciate any thoughts you have on this and any advice on what to do if my predicted for maths isn't an A.

If you go to a Bristol Open Day you can ask them.
Or you can email them on [email protected]

I'll hopefully be going to the one in November so i'll definitely ask then, thanks for the advice

Will you have internal exams in December/January that could be used for predicted grades?

The equal consideration deadline for 2026 entry is 14th January (assuming you're not applying for a course/university with a 15th October deadline) [source: https://www.ucas.com/applying/applying-to-university/dates-and-deadlines-for-uni-applications#_026-entry-application-deadlines], so there might just be time to get a newer set of predicted grades from your college.

Hi, yes i'll have another set of mocks in November so hopefully i'm able to improve my predicted grade then. I have also spoken to my maths teacher about doing another test in my free period at the beginning of 2nd year which could possibly boost my grade too. So I should have plenty of opportunities to get an A (considering i'm probably a few marks off due to very stupid errors). I was also wondering if you might know what Bristol tend to look for in applicants, as i'm a bit nervous as to whether they'll give me an offer. Thanks for your advice and response.
