How lenient is Lancaster with offers in reality?

I've just finished my last Maths A-Level paper and this year is my resit. I got CEE in Biology, Chemistry and Maths respectively last year which is really awful but this year it looks as if Chemistry will be at least a B as will Biology (with that probably being A or A*, although it's hard to tell.)

Maths however will still be too low. I've looked through unofficial mark schemes and based on what answers I can remember, it's likely that I've scraped an extremely high C rather than a B, which is what I need for my Biomedicine offer - ABB.

I've looked on UCAS' historical grades and it seems as though 100% of students with ABC in the past have been accepted but the timeframe is quite narrow on those historical grades so I'm not sure if it's representative of how it usually goes. Is it still possible for me to get in?

Hi @aditum,
Well done in finishing your A Level exams!
Even if you miss your offer grades, the university will still review your application on a case by case basis before results day, with a higher chance of being accepted if you only just miss the entry requirements.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!

I could be in a similar situation on results day. How likely do you think I could be to get in for politics and international relations if I miss by 2 grades? Thanks!

The uni is not going to know this until results week. Unis receive A level results 6 days before you do. If there are spaces left on the course once all those offer holders who met their conditions have been accepted, then unis are likely to look at near-miss offer holders rather than enter the course in clearing.

I've got a similar question but a slightly more complicated situation...

So I got offered BBB from Lancaster if I firmed them and ABB if I insured them. In the end, I put them down as my insurance choice, so my final offer was ABB. I'm slightly worried I'll end up coming out with BBC or BCC, so how likely do you think it is that I'd get into Lancaster if I got those grades and missed my firm choice?

I realise that you won't be able to give me a firm answer, but thoughts would be welcome! Thanks.

Hi @AR0407

The University is preparing for the publication of many of our applicants' results on Thursday 14th August. During this period, we are following the advice of UCAS by not communicating with applicants regarding their application to Lancaster. Results will be published at 8am on Thursday 14th August - at this stage applicants will be able to see the current status of their application in their UCAS account. Our Results Day hotline will also be open from 8am (BST) on Thursday 14th August - you can call us at 0800 298 9542 or +44 1524 931 300 from overseas.

I'm really sorry I can't give you a clearer answer - we're currently in the results embargo period. I remember how stressed I was in the time leading up to my results day; please make sure you are taking care of yourself. Best of luck!
