Further maths resit for a Maths degree

Hi I want to study maths at a uni like Warwick, I was hoping to achieve 2A*s in maths and further maths however I think I’ll miss the further maths grade boundaries by a few marks this year. I have extenuating circumstance of mental health deteriorating over the past year and specifically a little before exams started and have applied for mitigating circumstances for exams and my firm at Warwick. If I was to take a gap year and provide evidence of letter via my gp and therapist would Warwick allow me to resit further maths and not disadvantage my application ? Their website states they accept resits under certain conditions but didn’t state them

This is a question probably best directed at the Warwick admissions team, as they’ll be able to provide you a specific answer for your individual circumstances.

Hi, I think Warwick is usually understanding about resits, especially if you have strong reasons. Since you have medical letters and applied for mitigating circumstances, that helps a lot. If you take a gap year and resit Further Maths with good results, it should not hurt your application. Warwick’s maths department is very competitive, but they do look at your full story, not just grades.

I applied for Maths and Stats at Warwick and didn’t get an A* in Further Maths, but still got in,it is because I had a strong MAT score. If you take a gap year, you could consider doing MAT or TMUA. It might give your application a boost, especially for Warwick. Good luck, your plan sounds really solid.

What would Warwick consider a strong TMUA score? I got 5.4 and applied for maths. My offer is A*A*B and say hypothetically I’m a couple marks off an A* in further maths. Do they also look at how far off you were from an A*?
