Is it feasible for me to even get somewhere to stay?

I'm set to return to my undergraduate course at Kingston University (this will be important later, as it counts as "living in london"), but i've been shortchanged on my maintenance loan. I'm only recieving £7,841.00, is there even anywhere near kingston that I can get for that much the whole term. The previous year, I had halls as an affordable option, and also more money to work with. My parents aren't capable of funding me more than they had to last year, and though i've been trying, I haven't been successful in getting a job to save money over the summer. If there isn't an option I can get with the amount I got on loan, I think i'm going to have to defer, because the commute would be too inconvenient for me

If you think the amount you have been awarded is incorrect, have you checked if the income details your parents supplied are correct? If they are correct, but you still think you've been 'shortchanged', then use the live chat function on your account (during office hours) and ask SFE to clarify.

I have already done that and they said it was the correct amount, so now i'm stuck looking for a place to stay that i can actually afford with such a small budget

Hi there @Cheemgles ,
I am so sorry to hear about your financial difficulties. It will be challenging but it is possible to find affordable accommodation options if you are renting slightly further away from Kingston town centre. You can look on platforms like SpareRoom and Open Rent. Unfortunately, this means you will be spending most of your loans on rent and will need to get a part time job to help with your daily expenses. I would recommend reaching out to Kingston's Career Services & Employability Team as they might be able to point you in the right direction or offer on-campus jobs if available. Do also check if you are eligible for any Scholarships and Bursaries or any Additional Funding . I hope this helps 🤗
