I hardly ever read fiction or get time to read for fun, everything is always for uni, but this summer I'm determined to start making a dent in my to-read list! First up is the new short story collection by Northern Irish writer, Jan Carson - 'Quickly, while they still have horses'. I loved her novel, Firestarters, so I'm super excited to make a start on it.

I also really love essay collections, so I'm going to try Loitering by Charles D'Ambrosio and I've been meaning to read a classic of creative nonfiction called The Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt, so I'll probably read that this summer too.

Hoping to read the entire Dune Chronicles by Frank Herbert this Summer and hopefully a few more!

My favourite genre would be either science-fiction or fantasy :woo:
And my favourite authors are Isaac Asimov, Holly Jackson and J.R.R. Tolkein :h:

Elly Griffiths series of novels about archaeologist Ruth Galloway in East Anglia -
Elly Griffiths - Book Series In Order
And her Brighton Mysteries are good for anyone into the 1950s or who lives in Brighton.

I have. It's definitely one of my favourite books. To be completely honest, it reignited my passion for reading. :yep:

I've got Dan McClellan's new one on the go at the minute, along with John Nemec's Brahmins and Kings, and JP Mallory's new book on Proto-Indo-European. I have 2 Caravaggio biogs that I need to get finished, and also some other new thing on Proto-Indo European which I've somehow lost in the house. Add to that about 8 things on Orthodoxy to satisfy a work curiosity, and there's a hefty list. I hopefully need to start writing soon, too. We'll see.

This summer I hope to try and read more variety of books as I tend to have a habit of reading the same genre- fantasy and sci-fi :yy:

I plan to begin with a young classic: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Acquired the book on a flea market and the summary of the plot is auspicious enough to try.

I just finished this great horror story called "We used to live here" It's about a couple which has a strange family visit their house, claiming they used to live there. It's incredible and I couldn't put it down
