Best uni for shops, societies, library hours?

Any recommendations for great 'after hours' unis? Shops and cafés on campus? A hundred active societies? 24/7 libraries? Maybe movies, theatre, and bands right there on campus. Which are the campus unis with EVERYTHING?

Pick any big Uni in any big city.

But do also look at the course description - that's what you will be studying every day for 3 or 4 years - not the campus shops.

Scenario: I'm in the library, I need food, a drink, stationary, and I want to get back to studying within 20 minutes. Best I've seen so far: Exeter has 24/7 library, pub (and pub grub) SU, book shop, convenience store... all under one roof; Lancaster, big library (24/7?), plenty of socs, book shop, several cafés, convenience store and international foods store. Would love to know similar. Surrey has a big convenience store under the library, not sure about the rest of it. York? Warwick? (Yeah, London, Bristol, Manchester nightlife/shops a given, but they're... out there!)

Most Uni libraries are 24/7. Shops wont be. Bookshop at Exeter is tiny - and most students don't need to buy books - its all online. Most SUs will have a bar - and clubs and societies to suit all tastes. And you will only live in Uni housing for your first year - and it may not actually be on campus. It all still feels like a very odd way to pick a Uni.

It would be an odd way to pick a uni, but I'm not, I'm just asking about non-course conveniences. Re libraries, of the four closest to us, two are 24/7, two are 12 hrs/day, so I think there's some variation.

It feels a bit more like a way to pick a cruise in the Med or something. "What are the onboard facilities like, and are the drinks inclusive?", rather than 'what is the ship's itinerary?'

As a prospective research student, I set my own itinerary. Now, anybody wanna tell me about the drinks?
