What is it like studying at Essex University?

Hi there, I am a student from the North of UK and am looking to pursue 'History and Politics' and was wondering what the environment, courses qualities, kind of support and the career opportunities there is studying at Essex. As, I have never heard very much on Essex University so it would be helpful to know what the university is like for students.

I haven't studied at Essex, but I have used their facilities enough and went on campus enough times to tell you what it's like there.
The environment is least to say hilly. Sometimes when I walk across campus, I get the feeling it's designed to look like a concrete jungle that popped out from the 60s. It has decent faculties for most subjects and it has a welcoming atmosphere for students. As a history and politics student, you probably won't be using anything more than the local library - it's not like you're in STEM, art, music, etc. where you need specific equipment to work with.
The course quality will vary depending on the subject - I don't know enough about history or politics degrees to comment on this.
Support - I think it's not that different from other universities. You typically get a counselling centre, a careers service, housing support, etc.
Career opportunities - this is a fallacy that I get annoyed when people ask about a uni. It's not how it works; your degree doesn't guarantee you a job - that's not what it's designed for. That applies to any degree at any university, not just Essex.
Alumni from Essex that I have seen include those in investment banking, catering, teaching, HR, to the unemployed. It's what you make of it.
