combined or triple science

idk which to do but basically my sch have a system where through year 9- mid yr11 theres 3 science sets, if ur bottom set study for lower combined science, 2nd set study for higher combined and top set study for triple science.but my sch is **** and we always have subs for science so if u want to pass exams u have to learn at home bc half the time we dont get taught stuff we need for exams and yr10 and 11 were complaining after exams and mocks that they hadnt learnt much of the stuff in the exams. everyone in y10 who got high in mocks said they had to search about the curriculm and topic lists and learn ab that at home. u can change sets after every test depending on how u score. im finishing y8 rn so i had to do a end of year science exam and they put u into sets based on that for start of yr9. i want to be a paramedic for reference. im js above avg in physics and chem and good at biology i think ill get set 2. idk if doing triple is important to become a paramedic tho however i need to do a science at alevel. is there a point in proritising studying science over other subjects to make sure i move to top set? i dont like chem and physics. is there a point in doing triple basically?

Hi there!!

I can understand the frustration of feeling like there is a lot of study work to do at home - that becomes more common as you enter year 10 and study for GCSEs. Searching for the specification/curriculum is an extremely useful tool I must say! It really gives a good, clear list of what you need to know for the exams.
My school had a combined science and triple science option, too! I studied triple science at GCSE and now I study Biomedical Science at university. You cover the same basics in content but with some extra topics for physics, chemistry and biology in triple.
I have to say, I really enjoyed studying triple science! I have a similar strength in biology, and while there are ups and downs in areas like chemistry which I wasn't too fond of, I made it through OK. So if you'd like to study more biology I'd say go for it! Although it's entirely up to your judgement 🙂

I believe you can still study biology at A-Level if you get the required grade for your sixth form from your combined science GCSE! But I found triple science to be a helpful lead up to A-Levels as it covered the sciences in more detail with the extra topics.

I hope this could help a bit! If you have any other questions please let me know, and good luck with your studies!!
