Hi!

Primary pgce interview coming up. Has anyone done this through UEA. Any interview advice. What was the written task like? I’m very nervous and looking for advice. Thanks!

Hi @Rbeesob

I did a Primary Education interview however it was not at UEA.

My advice for an interview is:

Think about answers to some common questions - Why do you want to do the course? Why do you want to be a teacher? What is the role of a teacher? What is safeguarding?

Be prepared by making sure that you have everything you need for the interview ready in plenty of time. If your interview is online, then make sure that you have a quiet space with good internet connection. If it is in person then plan your route in advance and make sure you give yourself lots of time to get there.

Dress appropriately - think about the kind of clothes that teachers wear.

Try to relax, which is much easier said than done! Remember that the interviewers will just be trying to learn more about you and will likely be really friendly.

Hope that helps and good luck for your interview!

Hi! I'm so sorry I'm late to this, I just had to check I had all the right information.

The PGCE Admissions team recommend candidates familiarise themselves with the information available from the Department for Education as this will help you gain knowledge of the current issues facing teaching, specifically in the age range for which you are applying. During the interview you will be expected to be able to answer questions about these issues and why you want to teach as a career.

They can't disclose the content of the written task but it is statement-based and the sessions are nice and relaxed- not conducted under exam conditions.

I hope this helps - please let me know if you have any further questions. If you've already had your interview, I hope it went well and I'll have my fingers crossed for you 😊
