Bangor zoology options

Hi! I want to do zoology, when im older i want to either work at a zoo or somewhere and be able to research the conservation of endangered species and also have husbandry alongside it (zookeeping). Which course would be best? zoology with conservation or zoology and choosing conservation modules? my only concern is the conservation module outlines ive struggled to kinda understand what they mean in terms of what youd learn on it. Im not really bothered about ecology as much as i am endangered species.

Hi! 👋

It’s brilliant that you’re already thinking about your future that kind of planning will really pay off. Hopefully, we’ll be welcoming you to Bangor one day! 🎓

Bangor’s a fantastic place to study Zoology 🐾 and there are loads of degree options to choose from. You’re absolutely right that you can take conservation modules on the Zoology course, but if conservation is a big interest for you, definitely check out the Zoology with Conservation degree 🌿. It gives you a few more focused modules in that area.

Here are my top tips to help you choose the course that’s right for you:
Explore our course pages you can also chat directly with students and staff through our online chat 💬
Come to an Open Day it’s the best way to get a feel for the place, and staff and students will be around all day to answer your questions 🏫
Look closely at the modules see which topics excite you the most! Think about the types of assessments 📝, placement opportunities 🌍, and career paths 🔬 that match your goals.

And here are a couple of great videos 🎥 that give you a feel for the department and what it’s like to study here:
▶️ Bangor University’s Game-Changing Partnership with Chester Zoo
▶️ Steve Backshall’s Epic Snorkel Adventure with Bangor University Students

Feel free to reach out if you’ve got any more questions we’re always happy to help! 😊

We do have some staff fromt he department on the platform, they might eb able to add some more specific infomation.
