Hi: can’t help with house share but I’m from Barrie and can tell you what areas to avoid. There’s some rough areas to live in!

Please do share … also could you also share average cost of living for a single person who doesn’t mind house sharing. Thanks.

Houses used to be mega cheap but peyote moving to the area to work for BAE have pushed up prices. Saying that, it still comparibly cheap compared to big cities. I would avoid barrow island area. Walney island is pk. Avoid the town centre, Marsh Strert, Mardale grove area. Homes off abbey road are ok. Hindpoil isn’t greats Roose and , holbeck are nice safe areas. If you don’t mind travelling Ulverston is lovely. It’s about a 25 minute drive. There’s trains every hour. You will pay a premium for Ulverston though but worth it. It’s nearer to the lakes and motorway.

I managed to sort out accommodation pretty easily. I found a good place through https://www.larimarpm.co.uk. Renting on my own would’ve been a bit too expensive, so I decided to go with an HMO instead. I visited the property last week and will be moving in on Monday. If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them!
