Accomodation at Newcastle (Jesmond, Longbenton or close area)

Hello!
I'm currently finished my 2nd year from a different university, and I have a work placement of 12 month duration around the Northumbria University (Coach lane campus).
I'm wondering what type of accomodation I should seek, I have a budget of 500pcm but could go up to ~650.

I'm thinking of flat shares however I'm a bit scared that is a lottery of whether the flatmates would be inconsiderate; have never lived in any flats or flat-share.

Any advice?

Hey ShoolYeh! 👋

So, unfortunately there are no accomodation based near Coach Lane, however, if you choose accommodation based in the City Centre, but there is free travel between the two campuses on the number 1 bus.

Stagecoach’s number 1 bus runs between the City and Coach Lane Campuses every ten minutes, seven days a week and is free of charge to Northumbria students that board at the University’s designated stops and produce their smartcard. Both students and staff can use this service between 7am and 10.15pm every day.

Alternatively, if you live at Trinity Square and you don’t want to walk to City Campus for the number 1 bus, you can purchase a Student Metro ticket and travel between Gateshead and Four Lane Ends. A student Metro ticket between the two stops is around £72.50 per month. You can visit the Nexus website for more information on tickets.

I'll pop a link here for the accommodation page where there are multiple options that would cater to you 500-650 pcm budget: https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/study-at-northumbria/accommodation/

I hope this helps you in your accommodation search!

Regards,

Northumbria Rep

Hi,

I have a room in a 2 bedroom flat share available with one other house mate, it’s £170 per week including all bills. I’m looking to give over my tenancy as I’ve decided to move back home. Let me know if you’re interested:smile:)
