Finalising Uni decisions + 5th option help

Hi all,

I'm moving towards finalising my Uni decisions for 2026 entry - below are the courses. A*A*A* Predicted (Econ, Socio, Pol)

1) Bath - Politics with Economics
2) Durham - Politics (Alternative PS)
3) Manchester - Economics & Politics
4) Lancaster - Economics, Politics & IR
5) ?

Any recommendations for a 5th option? I can't really find any that are more aspirational for Econ & Pol as most require A-level maths. Many thanks!

Suggestions :
Politics and Economics BA | Undergraduate | Newcastle University - AAB. " A or AS Level Mathematics and/or Economics is desirable but not essential. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade A/7) required if not offered at a higher level"
BA Politics and Economics - 2026/27 (Reading) - BBB, GCSE Maths at grade 6
Politics and Economics BSc (Hons) degree course 2026 entry | University of Surrey- ABB and GCSE Mathematics at Grade 6
Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) BA : University of Sussex - AAB-ABB plus Maths GCSE Grade 6

Hi there @Jaa_ :hello:

It's great to hear that you are interested in studying Politics and Economics at University!

I would definitely encourage you to have a look at the Politics and Economics BA (LL21) offered here at the University of Nottingham. The current A Level entry requirements are AAA. If you are eligible for a contextual offer, the entry requirements are reduced by one grade to AAB. You will also need to meet the GCSE requirements of English 4 (C) or above and Maths 7 (A) or above.

Please do note that these are still subject to change for 2026 entry, so we would recommend that you double check this closer to the time of your application.

We have a number of Open Days coming up this year which are a perfect opportunity to gauge whether or not a University is the right fit for you. So, if you are considering the University of Nottingham at all, I would absolutely encourage you to come and visit us! You can find out more about our upcoming Open Days here.

I hope this helps!😊

Hiya,

Thanks for the response - I've looked at this course before! Unfortunately, I only got a 6 in GCSE maths, but thank you for the suggestion.

Hi there!

Great to hear you're planning on going into Econ/Politics, and it sounds like you've already got a really good selection of courses which have been well thought out. Its also lovely to hear you're considering Bath as one of your choices 🙂

McGinger has already given you some really good suggestions, but have you also considered Loughborough's Econ course as an option? They ask for AAA, no need for maths with a minimum of 6 in Maths GCSE. This course also has a placement option which you should definitely consider looking out for. This might be a good options if your aim was to go for straight Econ - just demonstrates that not all Econ degrees need A-Level maths.

I hope this helps, best of luck!

Hiya,

Thanks for the response! I have looked at this course before yes, but I've been reluctant to apply as my personal statement will include aspects of politics too. In case I change my mind, I do have a backup list of places where I can do an Econ degree without maths, including Lancaster, Manchester, and also Loughborough. Thank you for the suggestion!
